With the start of the new year comes a new look to Granada’s campus. With budget and staff changes as well as an overall update to the campus’s look, Granada has really changed for the better, creating a greater environment for students during break and lunch.
“It’s nice seeing all the changes on campus. Especially this year, I feel like this is the most it has been different since I started going here,” says Griffin White (11).
During this school year, Granada’s campus has seen the additions of new vending machines, growing gardens, and the repainting and refurbishing of old Granada structures found in the quad.
“I think that a lot of the campus’s additions have been really great at creating a better atmosphere at school, and they overall improve the school’s look. The vending machines are way better than the old ones and they’re good because the school lunch always sucks,” says White.
Another student, Bryce Rivera (11), also shows his appreciation.
“I love vending machines. They’re amazing to have,” says Rivera.
The most recent addition to the campus are the new benches, which were first implemented earlier this year as school started back up since winter break.
The brand new benches, which serve as a replacement for the old ones which were usually rusted down and falling apart due to age, are found to be very useful in allowing more additional seating during breaks and passing periods.
One student, Lucas Peart (11), finds them very useful at lunchtime, as well as showing his appreciation for Granada’s efforts at creating a better campus.
“I think they’re great. We have more space to sit down at lunch. Me and my friends used to just hangout and walk around all day, but now we have more seating to sit down on, so that’s nice. Granada’s been doing good at creating a better campus and it’s nice to see that they care enough to change things,” says Peart.
When asked about what further improvements Granada can make to its campus, Peart made a few suggestions.
“I feel like the school can make the campus cleaner. Maybe repairing the floors, mostly because we’re covered in gum and stuff like that,” says Peart.
It’s clear that in recent months, the Granada campus has improved drastically, with staff taking tiny steps in creating a better atmosphere of Granada, with many more changes to come in the coming years.
