For the 2025-2026 school year, there are a plethora of clubs to join at Granada high school. Clubs allow students to connect over common interests and find community, creating a much more inclusive and welcoming environment for students at the school. The Automotive club is one of the clubs on campus that allows students to connect over a common interest, which is cars.Â
Automotive club meets in room 404 on Tuesdays and was founded solely for the purpose of creating a community of car enthusiasts at Granada.
Granada Junior Ohm Patel stated, “Yeah, so, we are just trying to push knowledge about cars. For example, today we set out the Sim racer and we are just gonna have people test it out. We are gonna let them try different brake balances and cars.”
A Sim racer is a setup where you use a computer with a wheel, pedals, a shifter, and some sort of software to imitate driving a car. Sim racing is often a much better way to improve at driving while learning about cars without having to have a lot of money. Many of the members in the club rotated taking turns with the Sim racer while trying different cars and different setups for driving.Â
When asked who should join this club, Patel stated, “Really just anyone who wants to get into cars or is already into cars. It’s honestly just a fun environment for those who want to chill and talk about cars, we have something for everyone.”
The club members are extremely friendly and do not discriminate against people for not having extensive knowledge of cars. It was cool seeing all of the members be involved with each other and talking. They were also letting all of the members take turns on the Sim racer and including everyone.
The Club is also looking to expand their operation outside of school. Possibly holding Car meets and other events with their members.
When asked about possible expansion, Patel stated, “I think a big opportunity that we saw was altamont cruisers, and we would love to invite them over for a car meet or a cruise. Just some kinda event with them would be cool, it would also make us seem more official”
Altamont Cruisers is an east bay based car club similar to the GHS automotive club. Although it is not tied to any school or larger organization.
The Granada Automotive club is a great place for those who want to be involved greatly in the automotive community. Whether for the racing sim or just for being surrounded by people who have a passion for cars. The Automotive club allows for all walks of people to connect and come together for a similar purpose. Remember that the automotive club meets in 404 or Mr Clifton’s on Tuesdays at lunch.
