Christmas Dessert Ranking

Since Christmas is right around the corner, people have put on their atrocious sweaters and hung their stockings, eager to feel the holiday spirit. Many traditions have stayed the same but others have changed over time. One of the best parts of Christmas is the food, especially sweet treats. Here is a ranking of the most popular Christmas desserts.

1.) Sugar Cookies

You can never go wrong with sugar cookies. Whether you add icing and sprinkles, or just plain, sugar cookies are essential to Christmas. Sugar cookies also provide a fun activity. You can cut them into festive shapes and decorate them. GHS freshman Riley Richards states, “Oooh, sugar cookies are my favorite. They’re an amazing dessert to eat and fun to make.”

2.) Pumpkin Pie

The joy and happiness that pumpkin pie brings people during the holidays just shows the importance of this delicacy. The flavor of the dessert makes your heart and mouth dance. Add a ton of whipped cream and you’re good to go. GHS freshman Leilah Sosa says, “I LOVE pumpkin pie. Love it. It’s so yummy and with whipped cream. Who eats it without that’s weird.”

3.) Bundt Cake

Bundt cake is absolutely delicious. The unique shape makes the cake have a beautiful presentation. And let’s not forget about the glazes and toppings that can be drizzled over the cake to add even more sweetness and flavor. This dessert never disappoints.

4.) Hot Chocolate

There’s just something so comforting and cozy about sipping on a warm mug of chocolatey goodness. It’s like a hug in a cup! The rich, velvety texture and the sweet, chocolate flavor complement each other so well. Perfect for chilly days or when you just need a little pick-me-up. And don’t get me started on the marshmallows or whipped cream you can pile on top. Richards says, “I love hot chocolate. It’s good to have your cold and need something to drink.”

5.) Gingerbread

The warm spicy aroma of ginger, cinnamon, and cloves just fills the air and gets you in the holiday spirit. The soft, chewy texture with just the right amount of sweetness makes it such a delightful treat. Whether it’s in the form of cookies, houses, or cake, gingerbread always brings a sense of nostalgia and joy. Sosa says, “…I like gingerbread because it tastes really good. I like eating the frosting off of it and I love when you can put the little candies on them while making houses.

6.) Peppermint Bark

The combination of smooth, rich chocolate and refreshing, minty peppermint is a match made in heaven. The contrasting flavors and textures create a perfect balance. Sometimes when the chocolate is too bitter and mixed with the spicy peppermint it can make the flavor too strong and not enjoyable. Overall, peppermint bark is hit or miss.

7.) Candy Canes

Candy canes can be quite sweet and sometimes a bit overpowering. The strong peppermint flavor can be a little intense for some people. Plus, they can be a bit hard and sticky making them challenging to eat. I also don’t think anyone actually sits down and decides to eat an entire candy cane. They aren’t very practical or tasty.

8.) Pudding

The look of this gelatinous dessert is so off-putting (See what I did there?). Pudding lacks flavor and the texture is extremely unappetizing. Sosa says, “I hate pudding. Pudding is the most disgusting thing I’ve ever eaten in my entire life. I don’t like the texture.”

9.) Eggnog

The thick and chunky texture of this drink is a huge turnoff. The strong flavor of all the spices constructs a dreadful taste. Sosa remarks, “I hate eggnog. Like who drinks eggnog? If you do you’re literally a psycho. That’s disgusting.”
