Overrated Trends

What’s your opinion?
Overrated+Trends

Living in this extremely assertive day and age, trends and everything that comes with it have become an enormous part of today’s culture, especially in high school. Let’s face it, each and everybody in this world has a judgment. Whether it’s clothes, politics, or even how you live, the public will always and forever have an opinion. I have gathered information from students on our Granada campus to share their take on this complex society.

What are three trends that you think are overrated?

GHS freshman, Valentina Munoz, says, “The Nike tech hoodie. For girls, I would say a basic outfit like leggings and a shirt and the pj pants.”

Pajama pants have become immensely popular throughout this generation and Valentina isn’t the only one who believes they are overworn. GHS freshman, Jacob Gates, states, “Nike tech, Taylor Swift, and pajama pants.”

What will be trending in the upcoming school year?

GHS freshman Lena Samara announced, “I think flare jeans will be trending because I think the popularity of them is growing.”

However, when asked the question “What is a trend you think will die soon?” GHS senior Kayla Rickerson predicts flare pants will lose their admiration. “Flare legging might be dying as a trend in the future.”

The tendency to wear certain items of clothing will come and go until the world ends. It has been that way for years. In the 70s there were bell bottoms and fun patterns. In the 90s there were denim jackets and scrunchies. Now, teenagers have lost the excitement of bright colors and statement pieces.

If you wear something because people say they like it, other people will hate it. So don’t waste your time trying to please everyone else’s expectations of how you should and shouldn’t dress. Either way, the trend is going to die eventually anyway.
