Opinion: Autumn is the Best Season

Leaves.

Pie.

And pumpkin spice.

These are only a few of the many things that make autumn the great season that it is, as well as the undoubtedly best season among the four. With Winter comes the usual seasonal depression, with a cold that cannot be diminished no matter how many puffer coats you put on. Spring is spent with not enough rainy days, and with stuffy noses due to the pollen caused by the revival of the flowers and plants around us. And lastly, Summer is much too hot to spend even a small amount of time outside.

Autumn is the perfect season of the year when the temperature does not reach a point too low where your teeth are chattering against one another nor where the temperature has you standing next to an air conditioner to prevent you from just melting. Autumn is the perfect mix between what is considered too hot and too cold, with cool mornings and warm afternoons. This is also the time when the scenery around us becomes absolutely stunning: leaves begin to turn into various warm-toned hues, such as red, orange, and brown. Rain falls, and the aroma of the moist ground simply wafts through the air.

There are also a plethora of different activities you can do with friends and family members once autumn begins. You can spend an afternoon at the pumpkin patch racing through corn mazes and drinking apple cider, taking pictures along the way to make your very own autumn scrapbook. And the best part: you can pick out a pumpkin that you can later carve with your loved ones or you can transform it into a delicious treat: such as pumpkin pie, pancakes, or even ice cream.

If you’d much rather wear a comfy sweater and stay at home, then there is also a lot of media that is perfect to watch during this time of the year such as Fantastic Mr. Fox, Over the Garden Wall, Harry Potter, Little Women, and much more. Pravallika Pasupulati, a junior attending Granada High School, talks about the ways she spends her time during autumn mostly indoors: “Autumn is one of my favorite seasons because all the leaves are so pretty and colorful. I mostly stress about finals, but if I weren’t stressing about finals, I’d be reading. I’m trying to get back into reading, I simply haven’t had the time to, but what better time to get back into it than during autumn?”

Aside from activities, fashion during this season is also top-tier. Since the weather is perfect, you can wear light layers without being either too warm or too cold, this being turtlenecks, warm pants, boots, and perhaps even scarves. This also reintroduces cute sweaters and beanies into our everyday lifestyle, read more about fall fashion here: https://ghspomegranate.com/4732/features/chic-and-chilly-fall-and-winter-outfit-ideas-for-all/

Overall, no matter the season, Earth has proved herself again and again to be absolutely stunning and quite beautiful. No matter whether it is unbearably cold or extremely warm, we should all take some time to simply take a deep breath, slow down, and take a look at the scenery around us. We as humans sometimes forget how beautiful life can be, and how we shouldn’t plague our lives with stress as often as we do. Grab a book or grab a coat and step outside, take a walk, sit under a tree, and take deep breaths. Remind yourself how it feels like to be alive. You got this.
