This week, I interviewed Kate Malson, an art teacher at GHS. Let’s get to know one of Granada’s favorite art teachers.

Q: Why do you like art?

A: “I like art because it shows expression and connects with people.”

Q: What do you enjoy about teaching art?

A: “I enjoy teaching new styles of art.”

Q: How long have you been teaching art?

A: “I have been teaching art for 18 years; I enjoy working with kids [and] one of my favorite parts is painting with them.”

Q: Who is your favorite artist?

A: “My favorite artist is Jean-Michel Basquiat.”

Q: What is your favorite style of art?

A: “Abstract expressionist.”

Q: What is your favorite thing to teach in art?

A: “I would [say] my favorite thing to do in art is painting.”
