The Pomegranate’s In and Out- Week 7

Tyler Hayley, Reporter and Editor

It’s once again time for what’s in and what’s out! We’re back, so this is a list of everything that’s in and everything that is so out.

  • IN: Academia-style clothing

Academia-style clothing is one of many trendy fashion trends and there’s a reason why. The style is cute, fun, and classy and you can do it in so many different ways; whether dark academia, light academia, or a mix, you can do so much with it. Academia-style is here to stay and it is IN.

  • OUT: Graffiti in the bathrooms

Finding drawings and graffiti in the school bathrooms is never fun, and it makes the whole place feel even dirtier. It doesn’t make you cool, in fact, it makes you look dumb. Because you have to be dumb if you think anyone cares about what you have to write on the stalls. Graffiti in the bathrooms is OUT.

  • IN: Comic books

Comic books are a fun way to relax if you’re not really into reading but also enjoy stories and cool characters. Whether you’re D.C. or Marvel, superheroes or monsters, comic books are for everybody. So, if you’re looking for a new way to pass the time, try comic books.

  • OUT: Toxic positivity

No, we are not talking about positivity, we’re talking about toxic positivity. Having a cheerful outlook is good, but not letting anything be negative or sad ever is not. It’s terrible when you’re having a hard time and you just need to vent but the only advice you get is “just cheer up!” or “you just need to smile!” Stop it, that’s not helpful at all, and toxic positivity is out.

  • IN: Barbie movies

Remember Barbie? Remember the many movies she was in? The animated Barbie movies were a lot of fun as a kid and watching them now brings on 2000s nostalgia. Remind yourself of your childhood while enjoying one of the many Barbie movies.

  • OUT: Too many “extras” in your coffee

Coffee can be a nice way to start the morning, a good way to wake yourself up, but that’s because it has caffeine in it. Too many people add way too many extras to coffee such as sugar, creamer, and syrups. A little bit of sweetness is ok, but not when you turn your drink into a sugary mess. It’s supposed to be a little sugar with your coffee, not a little coffee with your sugar.

  • IN: Recycling

Recycling is a great way to help the planet, and it’s something almost anybody can do. In this modern day of constant plastic use, it’s nice when we use products that can be recycled and reused. Recycling is good for the environment and good for us, so please recycle.

  • OUT: Liking Kanye

Kanye West has done so many atrocious things in 2022 alone, and you’re still supporting him?! Sure he made College Dropout, but he’s also anti-Semitic and the latter outweighs the former. At least don’t tell us you still like Kanye, because that is totally out.

  • IN: Teaching English

We can all agree that no matter what grade you are in, you probably have a great English teacher. I’m not sure what it is about English, but it seems to attract the best teachers. A good teacher is the difference between you having a bad or good day so it’s awesome when you have a fun one. Everybody likes their English teacher, so teaching English is in.

  • OUT: Reading Romeo and Juliet

There is nothing worse than having to read Romeo and Juliet in English. It’s boring, the characters are not appealing, and the book has no message. I can understand liking the play or one of the many movie adaptations, but you can not be serious if you like the book, Romeo and Juliet. It’s such a bad option for English class and we would appreciate it if we could read a good book.
