“The Black Phone” was a book written by Joe Hill but adapted into a movie by Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill. The movie came out on June 24, 2022. It is a horror and supernatural film but more horror.

The Black Phone is about a man called the ¨Grabber” who likes to kidnap little boys that help him or come to his van. He acts like a magician or drops something to get their attention. He also always wears a mask. Once he gets the kids in his grasp he uses chloroform to knock the kids out and take them. The main character is a kid named Finny. Who was taken and had to figure out a way out? But he had to do it without being killed.

This story is amazing. So now on to the review. Why, because the suspense and gore aren’t too much but just right. The movie is rated R and has an 82% rating. It has a great storyline and great horror. What makes it so amazing is the actors are so amazing in their roles. They really portray who they are playing. The actor who played Finny was amazing and he really played out his role of someone captive and trying to get out. The ¨Grabber¨ really also stuck out because he did an amazing job of portraying the creepy and mysterious kidnapper. This movie is a real eye-catcher and suspense-maker. It has an amazing way of getting your attention and heart for the characters and then taking that away. The movie deserves 9l10 pomegranate seeds. So if you love horror and mystery you should get your tickets and run don’t walk to go see it.

Another reason this movie is great is it has so many spots that make you think and where you connect dots about what’s happening. This movie has to be my absolute favorite horror movie I have ever seen, and I’ve seen a lot. It’s the perfect amount of jump scares and moments where you are rooting for Finny to get out. There are also moment where you’re thinking, “Why would he do that?” I love this movie and give it 9/10 pomegranate seeds due to the realism it has throughout the movie and how everyone acts as if they were really in the 1980s with a kidnapper on the loose.

So if you haven’t seen this movie, I recommend you go watch it. It is perfect for horror lovers. Buy your tickets and popcorn, silence your phones and enjoy the movie.
