Are you proud to be a Matador? Granada students on the cross-country team sure are! They have just won another EBAL title for Granda! Cross Country won EBAL Championship titles at the girls’ Frosh-Soph and JV levels and the Boy’s JV and Varsity levels. Grace Espinoza, Audrey Manley, and Hastin Chen all won individual titles.
Grace Espinoza, a freshman, says, “It was very stressful but we won another title for Granada so that’s really fun.” When asked how she felt she performed she stated, “I think I did good I was thirty seconds ahead of the other girls, so I had a big lead. I was proud that I got first, it’s really challenging but push through it.”
Jana Baron, Sade Bumpus, Abby Stein, Mia Lnenicka, Eshaan Singh, Tanner Gray, George Mikhael, Erik Bromley, and Jacob McLaughlin earned Varsity All-League honors. A senior, Tanner Gray, who won varsity all-league honors says, “It was pretty great because we had been working hard this season and to win an EBAL is a great way to start the post-season and to roll into things like state.” Tanner also stated, “I think I did pretty good I wasn’t expecting to get 5th in the race. Hopefully, we get more wins this season.”
Sade Bumpus shares her opinion on how she did, “I think I did really good, especially at the end of the race, I gave it my all at the last sprint, I almost passed the girl in front of me and the girl behind me almost passed me so I think I did really good.”
This is such a great win for Granada and we hope to see more in the future, GO MATS!
