Spider-Man 2 Breaks Playstation Record Upon Release

Spider-Man+2+Breaks+Playstation+Record+Upon+Release

As October 20th fell this year, the sales of a well anticipated sequel for a well received game dropped for the PS5 this fall. Of course, I am talking about Sony and Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2. With this news, Playstation has had a record broken by the massive release, which had the most sales in the 24 hour release of a game. So with this record being broken, a huge staple and contender for Game of The Year is born.

The sales, as stated, were booming. In the 24 hour time of it being released, the game crossed over 2.5 million copies sold. This was huge for the companies involved, Sony with the ownership of the console, Insomniac for their genius game development, and Marvel Games with their allowance of the hero everyone knows, Spider-Man. And no wonder it was a hit, as iconic characters were everywhere.

Obviously, Peter Parker as Spiderman as well as Miles Morales with his own Spiderman, with other characters like Venom being a staple to the story.

Sophomore Dylan Kandel said, “Venom was such a cool addition, as I love how creepy and how brutal he is.”

He is right. The story has you involved, making the 2.5 million copies make sense as you immerse yourself in the realistic city of New York and the crime spread throughout it.

Overall, there has not been such a noteworthy launch of a game recently, as most have been hyped up but don’t reach the same numbers upon release. But Spider Man 2 had people waiting since the first trailer was dropped months ago. So congratulations to all involved in the release of the game, and congratulations to all that get to play it.
