The Emmy Awards held their 77th ceremony on September 14, 2025 with the highest acclaimed shows of the past year awarded during the ceremony. The Emmys award people of all facets in the television industry.
Stand up comedian Nate Bargatze hosted the show this year. He held a bit where he donated $100,000 to the Boys and Girls Club of America and every time someone’s speech went over 45 seconds money would be taken off. Some kept it under 45 seconds which added money but many people went over the limit.
“Adolescence” won the most awards of the night with 6 Emmys. Stephen Graham was the star, writer, and executive producer of the series. Graham was awarded 3 Emmys for the show with best limited or anthology series, best actor in a limited or anthology series or movie, and best writing for a limited or anthology series alongside writer Jack Thorne. Owen Cooper won his first Emmy for supporting actor in a limited or anthology series or movie. He is now the youngest male actor to ever win an Emmy. Erin Doherty took home an Emmy for best supporting actress in a limited or anthology series or movie and Philip Barantini won for best directing for a limited or anthology series or movie.
“The Studio” won a total of 4 Emmys. Seth Rogen accepted each one. The show won for best comedy series, best actor in a comedy series, best directing for a comedy series with Evan Goldberg joining him to accept it, and best writing for a comedy series which he shared with Evan Goldberg, Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory, Frida Perez.
“The Pitt” won three Emmys. Katherine LaNasa was awarded for best supporting actress in a drama series. The show also won two of the biggest awards of the night with best actor in a drama series and best drama series.
“Severance” and “Hacks” both won 2 Emmys. Britt Lower was awarded with best actress in a drama series for “Severance” along with Trammell Tillman nominated for and winning his first Emmy for best supporting actor in a drama series. “Hacks” stars Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder both won Emmys for the show. Smart was awarded with best actress in a comedy series and Einbinder was awarded with best supporting actress in a comedy series.
“The Penguin,” “Andor,” “Slow Horses,” and “Somebody Somewhere” were all awarded with 1 Emmy. Cristin Millioti won best actress in a limited or anthology series or movie for her role in “The Penguin”. “Andor” won best writing for a drama series with writer Dan Gilroy accepting the award. Adam Randall won best directing for a drama series for his work on “Slow Horses”. Best supporting actor in a comedy series went to Jeff Hiller for his performance in “Somebody Somewhere”.
There were many live programs that were awarded during the ceremony. “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” won best talk series after his show was announced to end at the end of the season. “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” won best scripted variety series and best writing for a variety series. “The Traitors” won best reality competition program with the host of the show Alan Cumming accepting the award. “SNL 50: The Anniversary Special” won best variety special (live).
At the end of the ceremony the charity money was in the negatives but host Nate Bergatze decided to set it back to $100,000, adding even more.
