Lunch is a very important part of everyone’s day. However, year by year, as the school’s population increases, the quality of lunches decreases. What exactly is wrong?
This year has been very different so far. There have been many many noticeable and major changes to the organization of the lines, and the quality of the lunches. For one, a crowd favorite, the chicken sandwich, has been completely redone. Not only has it been almost completely removed from the menu, but when it is there, “it is smaller, and the quality of the buns are worse than they were last year,” said Nicolai Barron (12).
On top of the changes to the recipes themselves, many people have noticed the disappearance, or appearance rate of some lunches gone down. Such as bosco sticks, tamales, and obviously the chicken sandwiches.
Even worse than the lunches themselves, obtaining them has become a problem in itself. People cutting lines constantly, and there being no order, especially in the lines outside. “They used to have some sort of adult at the lines to try and prevent people from cutting, but they have obviously given up on that,” Declan Pascal (12)
Many kids have noticed that there is no longer an attempt at keeping the lines in order, and instead let the chaos ensue, making it impossible to have a normal lunch. Because of this, even more kids find themselves waiting for a long time just to have a chance of ordering.
“I’ve waited more than 20 minutes just for nothing, all because it took so long and they ran out of what I wanted,” said Christopher Pratte (12). Another concerned student, who tragically wasted their time for nothing.
Whether you are a senior who gets to leave campus or a freshman who is getting their first taste of a high school experience, as a school we need to take notice of the small things, even things as simple as encouraging students to stop cutting.
