Are you tired of going to the same old breakfast places in Downtown Livermore and looking for a fresh new one to try? If so, then I’ve got just the place for you.
The Breakfast Club has been serving brunches to multiple locations throughout the Bay Area for over 30 years now, and is currently in expansion mode. Starting in San Jose, they launched a new restaurant in Walnut Creek last year, and another shortly after in Lafayette. Debuting on April 5, an additional location opened on the ground floor of the new Legacy at Livermore apartment complex on 1960 First Street. Their story began with a simple idea; delicious food made with care brings people together. Their menu was packed with breakfast and lunch favorites, showing their commitment to crafting meals that satisfy and comfort every customer’s cravings.
On Sunday, April 13, 2025 my family went to try out their new location and see what all the fuss was about. Along with one of the most diverse menus I’d ever laid eyes on, from beverages and ranchero breakfasts all the way to burgers and subs, the restaurant was buzzing with business. The energy in the room was palpable, and not a single person didn’t have a smile on their face. Just walking in will brighten your day!
Meal #1: Breakfast Burrito ($20)
Packed with scrambled eggs, chorizo, green onions, cheese, and topped with sour cream, guac, jalapeños, and pico de gallo, at first glance this meal seems like the ultimate burrito. I also ordered hash browns and beans on the side for that extra crunch. I have to say this might’ve been one of the best burritos I’ve ever had. Moist, juicy, and full of flavor that just bursts in your mouth along with the crispy hashbrowns was just the perfect combination for me. I will say the beans were nothing special in comparison to any other restaurant, but still not bad. Additionally, the portion size was a LOT bigger than I originally expected, so I wasn’t able to finish the entire thing in one sitting. If this sounds like a meal you’d want to give a try, I would recommend sharing unless you’re willing to back up your colon. I would rate this meal a strong 9/10.
Meal #2: George Scramble ($20)
This meal was extremely rich and hearty. Consisting of chorizo, eggs, and green onions and topped with jalapeños, guacamole, pico de gallo, and sour cream, I’d give this meal a solid 8.5/10. This meal was also quite large, which personally makes me feel better about the prices. Definitely a meal I’d get again, but I thought it needed a bit more spice to really take it to the next level.
Meal #3: Ham and Eggs ($19)
Two over medium egg plus ham, herb potatoes, and an english muffin. A pretty standard breakfast dish if you ask me. There were some things about this meal that I loved and others I didn’t. First off, the ham was spectacular. Not only was it juicy and pretty much melted in my mouth, but it was rich and sweet and just overall very well cooked. The english muffin was warm, and a good mixture of crunchy and soft, which I could definitely appreciate. On the other hand, the egg was pretty basic and the herb potatoes were kind of dry and clumpy, which brought this meal down on my list. The ham by itself deserves a 9/10, but altogether I think this dish deserves a 7/10.
Meal #4: Coffee Cake
I am a huge coffee cake girl, so I was very excited to try this dessert. Ultimately, in comparison with all the other versions of this sweet treat I’ve had, this one didn’t blow my mind. The top was sweet and nicely textured with powdered sugar to give it that extra fluffy touch, but the cake part was too thick and a little dry. Maybe if the brown sugar crumble was thicker and spread throughout more than just the top of it, it would’ve ranked higher up on my list. This treat deserves a 6/10.
Overall, I had a great experience at The Breakfast Club. They have very friendly staff and extremely speedy service that doesn’t keep you waiting long enough for your stomach to start growling, and once you’ve received your meal they check in just enough to make sure you’re satisfied. Each meal also came with an orange slice that was super fresh and sweet, a small but thoughtful touch that I really enjoyed. I’d definitely recommend The Breakfast Club to anyone looking for a hearty, home-cooked meal, however, the prices match the portions so be sure to bring your friends along and share the love!
