On Tuesday, January 21st, the Livermore Library will be hosting the Opportunities Expo: a job fair from 5pm to 8pm located in the Library Gallery and Board Room. It is being hosted by the Friends of the Livermore Public Library, a foundation known for hosting charitable events for the community. This will be an event in which visitors will be able to find employment resources, make connections with local employers, explore different employment opportunities, and establish professional relationships. Additionally, professional photographers will be there to take headshots of the first 50 attendees and the Tri-Valley Career Center will be offering resume assistance.Â
The event welcomes anyone sixteen or older interested in local job opportunities and aims to connect the younger generation with the local workforce. With the help of Ron Essex Photography who specializes in professional headshots, the library is helping to bridge the gap between teenagers and employers. These headshots can be submitted alongside resumes and give teens a headstart they would not have otherwise. Be sure to arrive early though, as only a limited number of guests will be able to get their photos taken for their resume.Â
If you’re worried about making a resume, the Career Center will be open alongside the event to help anyone interested in either writing one from scratch or trying to touch theirs up. This is another large hurdle that teens will be able to overcome on the 21st. Being able to network will be another massive opportunity for anyone attending and trying to get their name out. With multiple local businesses attending, the connections that visitors could make at the expo could truly be one of a kind.
Overall, the Opportunities Expo seems like a great time for those new to the process of finding a job to get some assistance. The connections that visitors will be able to make are important and hard to pass up. Be sure to stop by if you or someone you know could get some use out of any of the many resources they will be providing.
