The class of 2025 blew out this year with one of the best skits this school has seen. Everything from the choreography and storyline to finer details like the sound system and the set was meticulously planned and perfected by the Senior class.
The overall theme for Homecoming 2024 was music festivals with the Senior class taking Hocoachella. The theme and story of the skit at the festival were used to mirror the High School journey cleverly to give advice to the younger classes. The message was well communicated and thought out well.
The skit’s story was done very well with a flowing dialogue and funny quips and one-liners inserted consistently throughout. The plot follows four girls played by Delaney Ammua, Ami Radack, Romy Palmer, and Kaitlyn Brongiel who take a trip to Coachella. It’s there that they lose Delaney and in the process of searching for her, meet several celebrities including DJ Khaled ( Jackson Allen) and Drake (Tommy Brown), and find out that their friend is a well-known contact with all these stars.
The skit features four dances: the boy’s dance, the girl’s dance, the talent dance, and the group dance. The dances were well organized like normal but a contrast from previous years was the boy’s dance. It was more put together and unique than normal.
One of the dancers, Hastin Chen said he “thought the boys’ dance helped boost the excitement of the skit as a whole.”
The skit featured many standout moments but the clear highlight was the talent dance of Beyonce’s (DaMya Miles) performance. It was loud, flashy, and perfectly choreographed. The costumes, set, and band involvement took the dance from good to great. It was a bit on the longer
side but that was not necessarily a negative thing as it was enjoyable throughout.
One of the talent dancers JJ Huang said, “Talent dance was one of the most exhausting but enjoyable dances I’ve done so far. Performing it was definitely a fever dream, but it was a blast at every moment.”
Besides the obvious and central aspects of the skit, it was the smaller details that really elevated it. The clarity of the audio was one of those factors. In previous years, the (non-existent) quality of the audio was a limiting factor for the caliber of a skit. It’s hard to follow along and enjoy it if you have no idea what the story is or if the songs are borderline painful to listen to. This year the improved recording method and audio mixing significantly contributed to the success of the skits. The dialogue was easy to follow and understand, and the immersion of the dances was improved with the well-mixed music.
The Class of 2025’s homecoming skit set a new bar for creativity and execution, standing out not only for its engaging storyline and clever humor but also for its attention to detail in every aspect. From improved audio quality to standout performances, the Senior class delivered a show that entertained and inspired the school community. The combination of impressive choreography, a meaningful message, and unique production elements made this year’s skit a memorable highlight of Homecoming 2024, leaving high expectations for future years to follow.
