A beloved toy company (that you would be lying about if you said you’ve never been to) is Toys R Us. Obviously, many people, whether or not they were still kids, were hurt worldwide when the company filed for bankruptcy in around the 2017-2018 mark. All stores were shut down in the UK and Australia, and the last US store closed in 2021. Other places mostly in Europe, Asia, and Canada survived a bit longer but were eventually sold to third parties. But Toys R Us is making a comeback as 2024 will bring 24 stores with it.
It seems that Toys R Us will be appearing in 24 flagship stores, which will spread far and wide. Another interesting addition to the comeback of this beloved toy industry is the partnership with Go! Retail Group, bringing with it the ability for Toys R Us to locate themselves at airports and cruise ships. But saying that they are only appearing now is only half right. Due to partnering up with Macy’s under the ownership of WHP Global, Toys R Us has been selling toys online since 2021. But Macy’s has done more than just this. Thanks to the company, Toys R Us has opened 452 locations as of 2022, and also in 2021 a huge location in American Dream was made, spanning a whopping 20,000 square feet. Sophomore Carsen Dare states, “Toys R Us is a place that all kids loved, and everyone has missed, so seeing such a strong comeback is a great sight to see.”
Going back to it being on seas, WHP Global made a statement about “a wide range of toys and exclusive cruise-themed merchandise for children and their families during their voyages.” With this news known, it is clear the effort that Toys R Us is putting in will be extremely important to what could be the biggest comeback in the toy industry. It is important to note that no date has been announced for this special cruise debut, nor has a cruise line that has openly stated to be the carrier of the famous toy producer.
Toys R Us has been missed by many for years now. I am sure that all ages will rejoice that the famous industry that is Toys R Us is making a comeback into the industry, and not just getting locations on land, but in ships and in airports. So any day now Toys R Us will come back stronger and larger than ever!
