Monday, September 12, is the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards, and this year it’s very exciting, with many modern shows being nominated such as Only Murders In the Building, Strangers Things, and Euphoria. Here’s who deserves to win at the upcoming Emmys.

Outstanding Comedy Series

Awarded annually, Outstanding Comedy Series is for comedic television shows that have succeeded in being the best in writing, acting, and directing. This year’s nominees are…

Abbott Elementary

Barry

Curb Your Enthusiasm

Hacks

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

Only Murders In the Building

Ted Lasso

What We Do In the Shadows

My pick for Outstanding Comedy Series is Curb Your Enthusiasm. Created and starring Larry David, Curb Your Enthusiasm is a hilarious comedy exploring Larry David’s life as a TV writer and his many relationships with friends and family. The latest season was hilarious and even after 22 years Curb Your Enthusiasm is still able to be fresh and funny. Curb Your Enthusiasm definitely deserves Outstanding Comedy Series.

Outstanding Drama Series

Since the beginning of the Emmys in 1955, Outstanding Drama Series has been presented every year to a drama series that goes above and beyond in production. This year’s nominees are:

Better Call Saul

Euphoria

Ozark

Severance

Squid Game

Stranger Things

Succession

Yellowjackets

My pick for Outstanding Drama Series is Squid Game. The TV show that ruled the end of 2021, Squid Game is a fantastic show filled with good storylines and fantastic actors. Already critically acclaimed, the series clearly stands out from the rest with an amazing plot and great directing, writing, and acting to back it up. Squid Game is the Outstanding Drama Series.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series

Donald Glover in Atlanta

Bill Hader in Barry

Nicholas Hoult in The Great

Steve Martin in Only Murders In the Building

Martin Short in Only Murders In the Building

Jason Sudeikis in Ted Lasso

My pick for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series is Jason Sudeikis in Ted Lasso. Showing off his comedic chops, Jason Sudeikis was hilarious on Ted Lasso. Sudeikis was the perfect fit for this role and it allowed the SNL alumnus to stretch his acting abilities. Jason Sudeikis is the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series

An exciting category every year, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series is always a tough category. This year is no different as the nominees are:

Jason Bateman in Ozark

Brian Cox in Succession

Lee Jung-jae in Squid Game

Bob Odenkirk in Better Call Saul

Adam Scott in Severance

Jeremy Strong in Succession

My pick for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series is Bob Odenkirk in Better Call Saul. Bob Odenkirk has stunned us every season of Better Call Saul with a stellar performance, and this season is no different. With the show coming to an end, Odenkirk really gave it his all and was able to act out the many emotions felt throughout the show. Bob Odenkirk is the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

Elle Fanning in The Great

Issa Rae in Insecure

Jean Smart in Hacks

My pick for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series is Quinta Brunson in Abbott Elementary. Brunson really broke out on the scene with Abbott Elementary, which she helped create, produce, and write. Her performance as a 2nd-grade teacher was fantastic and added a lot of humor to the show. Quinta Brunson is the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.

Zendaya in Euphoria

My pick for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series is Zendaya in Euphoria. Zendaya had everybody talking about her work in Euphoria, and that is no surprise. She gave an excellent performance as Rue and delivered many heart-wrenching moments during the latest season. Zendaya is the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series

Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series is presented every year to the projects that didn’t quite make the cut of being multiple seasons, but they’re just as good. This year’s nominees are:

Dopesick

The Dropout

Inventing Anna

Pam & Tommy

The White Lotus

My pick for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series is Inventing Anna. This show got everything right, from the actors to the writing to the overall look and feel of the show. Starring such amazing actors as Julia Garner, Laverne Cox, and Anna Chlumsky, it’s no wonder this show turned out to be amazing. It’ll have you laughing and crying and even rooting for the bad guy. Inventing Anna is the Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
